Adaptations to sandy beaches
Plants that inhabit sandy beaches generally have the following adaptations:

a) low lying, prostrate, stoloniferous or cushion-like

b) dwarfed aboveground

c) extensive underground growth, long tap root or widespread adventitious roots

d) adventitious buds and vegetative growth

e) leaves small, often spiny,

f) leaves leathery or hairy, thick cuticle, thick epidermis,

g) stem thorny

h) succulent

i) oil-dotted or bearing latex

j) some fruits for water dispersal
